Cards Now Available in Store
Studio Michaelino Art Greeting Cards are available in our online store. Our cards are individually printed and inspected by the artist. This allows the use of fine art papers as well as the printing of one-off and special limited runs. Cards are completely blank inside unless otherwise noted. The card back often contains descriptions of the compositions, such as the varieties used in images of Celestial Vegetables or the history of the restored City of Flowers Collection botanic illustrations.
The Arboretum Up the Street
The Arboretum Up the Street is the latest film from Studio Michaelino. The film features a little bit of history and a lot of personal reflection on the renowned Highland Botanical Park, which is an exquisite arboretum just a few minutes walk from the filmmaker’s front door. Because the city parks we know have “always been there”, the public no longer remembers that many parks often had a controversial beginning where park advocates had to wage a political fight to create each treasure of “space and place and green.” In some cities, the park champions lost that battle. This film give visual proof that the residents of Rochester, New York are blessed because, in our city, the makers of parks won. This is a five minute film. Continue reading…

City of Gardens – A Film
City of Gardens is a new short film in the form of a personal triptych of video essays explaining how “The Garden is with me“. First within my life and art, second: how gardens have always been part of the green legacy of my city, and in part three, I present a sampling of recent learnings and influences on the social relevance of gardening. All in five minutes.
City of Gardens premiered at the 2017 Fast Forward Film Festival held at The Little Theater and the George Eastman Museum. The film took two top awards at this festival, including one of three juried Adult Category Award as well as the Adult Audience Choice Award.
It is currently available in a slightly expanded edition online at the Studio Michaelino Vimeo page. And each of the three parts may eventually grow into connected but individual longer (but still short) films.

Century – a new short film from Studio Michaelino
Respect for the diversity of environments. Respect for the diversity of species. Respect for the diversity of people.
Together these serve their part within one response to a personal question asked thirty years ago about the future. While the original question came from a loved one now long gone, the reply comes now, here in the 21st century, in the form of a new short film from Studio Michaelino.
